Emprise of the Black Lion IV

The third annual Emprise of the Black Lion was held on October 1-3, 2003 in the Shire of Midhaven.

Challenge of the Golden Leaf--THL Agelos Evienece

On Saturday, 18 challengers rode in the hastilude,

which consisted of:

   * a run of rings

   * a run of the quintain

   * a run of the pig sticking

Behord of crest combat with 15 combatants.

On the second day there was a challenge course with 17.  The goal was to fetch a message from the keep of the golden leaves and return it through perilous woods to the seneschal.

Champion of the Emprise

   *  The autocrat was HL Taradan ban Marca and EMIC HL Thorkel Haraldsson

   * There were merchants again, including a snow-cone vendor who had plenty of business.

   * On Saturday, the berfois was graced by HRM Dagmar, Countess Elizabeth, Viscountess Calista, Baroness Anastasia, and hosted by the Baroness of Aquaterra Baroness Fiama. HRM Thorin and Baroness Andrew also attended.  On Sunday, the berfois was graced by Baroness Anastasia and Baroness Fiama.

  

   * Earl Strider answered the former champion, Viscount Rapheal's challenge at July Coronation.

   * Alessandra de Montefeltro was the list minister.

   * HL  Aerne Clover and Natasha Orinova acted as heralds.

   * Angel McBride made the award scrolls.

   * The scoresheets were based on period tourney cheques and presented to the competitors as a souvenir.
